Sports physicals are a routine part of the school year for many children. Our board-certified pediatricians at Desert Valley Pediatrics specialize in providing school and sports physical evaluations for active kids.
SPORTS PHYSICALS INFORMATION
It is important for growth and development that children receive daily physical activity. Some choose to participate in organized sports. We offer preparticipation evaluations. These are designed to review the patient’s medical history and give them a physical examination to ensure their readiness to participate.
The healthcare provider will do a physical exam to check for:
- Coordination, Ears, Flexibility, Heart, Height, and Weight
- Blood Pressure and Heart Rate
- Abdomen, Lungs, Nose, and Throat
- Hearing and Vision
- Strength, Reflexes, and Posture
SPORTS PHYSICALS Q&A
Answer: Our pediatricians will thoroughly screen your child to ensure they are well enough to participate in a physical activity. If the physician is satisfied with their findings, he or she may issue a sports physical form that you should take with you to the school’s athletic office.
The sports physical is good for one year and should be done at least six to eight weeks before the season starts.
